The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) proposed rules further defining “swap dealer,” “major swap participant” and “eligible contract participant” at its December 1, 2010 open meeting. These definitions were coordinated with those of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which approved the joint resolution on December 3, 2010.
