The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) held a public meeting on August 31, 2011 focused on the issuance of proposed rules under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act concerning the use of derivatives by investment companies under the Investment Company Act of 1940, the treatment of asset-backed issuers under the Investment Company Act of 1940, and companies engaged in the business of acquiring mortgages and mortgage-related instruments.<ref>Open Meeting Agenda, August 31, 2011.
